I decided to take a day to volunteer at a school in 2024 by doing a reading day with an entire class and read with each individual child in chunks – so that they all had the opportunity to read with an adult. Usually this is only offered to the children who are struggling with reading so it was great to offer opportunity to all.
I found the experience incredibly rewarding and impactful – so many children in that class loved having me in there reading with them and were incredibly grateful. I still get asked by the class to return. I recommend doing volunteering to others because it allows you to give something back and to have an opportunity to integrate with something you believe in.
